Welcome to
Château Montrose

I am of legal drinking age

In the 18th century, before the vineyard was established, the ridge on
which the Château now stands was covered in heather. In full bloom,
it tinged the hillside pink. Sailors, aboard their flat-bottomed
barges carrying wine along the estuary, could bear witness to it.
They named this place “Mont Rose.” A poetic and evocative name,
adopted with the creation of the estate in 1815: Château Montrose.

“Montrose. Love at first sight.
An exceptional terroir. A human story
.”

Through challenges and triumphs,
two centuries of history flow through it.

1815
Etienne Théodore Dumoulin

A visionary pioneer, forging the heathlands

In 1815, Etienne Théodore Dumoulin founded this exceptional vineyard.

In 1855, he sealed its destiny as the youngest Second Growth in the Classification, a distinction reflecting the estate’s unique qualities. At just 40 years old, Montrose was already revealing the promise of a brilliant future.
